Sir Charles Barry (1795 – 1860)

Landscape Architect

Sir Charles Barry was an English architect, best known for his contribution to the rebuilding of the Palace of Westminster (Houses of Parliament) in London during the mid 19th Century. He was also responsible for numerous other buildings and some gardens (in addition to Trentham) such as Kingston Lacy in Dorset, Cliveden House in Buckinghamshire, the gardens of Dunrobin Castle in Scotland, Shrubland Hall Gardens in Suffolk and Harewood House in Leeds.

Sir Charles Barry was born in London, he lived and died at "The Elms" in Clapham Common.
